About Greenway Industries.
Why the unusual combination of seed business and manufacturing?
Alan Greenway entered the seed business in 1970, but had parallel
interests, ie., elk hunting and horse packing.
He enjoyed packing his horses and mules and venturing deep
into Idaho's primitive areas. Most of the products that we manufacture
are the results of Alan's thought process as he and hunting
buddies sat around a sheephearder store in the middle of November
snow storms.
For example, he would pack in horse blankets only to see them
soak through and stay wet the entire trip. Greenway Industries
tried scores of fabrics over 15 years before they came up with
their triple layer concept of water-proofness and breathability
- today being used in Equi-Dry Horse Blankets and SnugBug
sleeping bag covers. Alan also built new tents every year for
20 years before finding the perfect fabric for a very lightweight
water-proof breathable tent - (DryLite Tents).
Thirty years of horsepacking mistakes have been corrected with
the manufacture of a line of products called IronCloth.
Examples are: Pannjers and cantle bags that won't fall apart;
saddle scabbards that are breathable, yet keep your rifle from
getting rusty in a rainstorm; hay bags that will last a virtual
lifetime; chaps and bib overalls that are extremely durable
yet water-proof and breathable.
The hay stack cover manufacturing started in 1990 because Alan,
selling farmers alfalfa seed, also saw the need for hay covers
for those same farmers' hay stacks.
